Simple Evergreen Pivot Pop It Ups Christmas Cards

Karen Burniston challenged us to made a simpler card as well, for her July's Christmas Designer Challenge, and I came up with this one. (I made it while cooking dinner - during the in between bits - it was truly a very quick card!)
I think the Evergreen Pivot Card die set is perfect for quick cards - one run through the die cutting machine for the pop out elements, another run through for the three layered trees, then just stick a few embellishments on. (The gift  & bow dies also comes with the Evergreen Pivot die set.) Most the dies used here are due out soon at Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I also chose to emboss my trees, and add a layer of glitter card stock at the bottom (cut with one of the new Outdoor Edges dies), plus 2 strips of the same patterned card stock to cover the gaps at the back of the card left by the pivot cut.

The card front.

I then decided to make the same card again, this time in different colours, and instead of gold confetti snowflakes, I used the snowflake dies from Karen's Spiral Circle Pull Card.

Christmas Ornament Ring Accordion Card

I also made another Christmas card, using new dies from Karen Burniston and Elizabeth Craft Designs - the Ring Accordion, Ornament Set 3 and Spiral Circle Pull Card for the snowflakes.

I die cut a circle from the centres of the ring accordion panels, and then used the ring accordion die to cut clear acetate circles the same size as the panel centres (with the tabs and extra sticking out bits chopped off), then glued them to the backs. This gave me the surface to stick the ornaments to.

Rainy Day Stand Up card - Elizabeth Craft Designs Tutorial

Hi everyone! Here's a tutorial I have on the Elizabeth Craft Design blog today.
The new Summer Release from Elizabeth Craft Designs will be available SO soon, and I made a simple Stand Up card using a couple of the new products - the Rainy Day die set, the Thinking of You Stand Up Helper, and a new colour Shimmer Sheetz. I wanted to show how easy the Stand Up Helpers are.

Directions:
1. Cut a piece of thick double-sided patterned paper to 12'' x 4.5'', and two strips of the same paper, 1.25'' x 4.5'' (ie. The light blue strip, and diagonal patterned strip, in the picture below.)
2. Cut a 3'' square of Light Blue Metallic Shimmer Sheetz, and emboss it with the Lots of Dots embossing folder.
3. Cut a 3.25'' square of contrasting patterned paper, and adhere the Shimmer Sheetz square to the centre of it.
4. Cut a thin strip of the contrasting patterned paper .5'' x 4.5''
5. Cut out an umbrella, hand cut 2 contrasting umbrella panels, cut two lots of boots, and two flowers and flower centres.

6. Fold the big sheet of paper in half, and fold one half in half again. Place the Stand Up Helper die half way down the unfolded side, and die cut, as shown below.

7. Adhere the Shimmer Sheetz square so that about a third of it sticks up over the top of the fold, on the top half of the card.
8. Use a glue pen and small self-adhesive foam pads to adhere the other card elements as shown in the picture below.
9. Stick the remaining 1.25'' x 4.5'' strip of patterned paper to the underneath of the card, covering the hole left by the Stand Up helper die cut.

I hope that if you haven't tried making  a Stand Up card yet, that you'll be inspired to give one a go!

Elizabeth Craft Design & Karen Burniston Pop It Ups Christmas Candle Card

Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge this month is 'Christmas in July'!! Seems funny to be making Christmas cards, especially as the weather is so wonderful at the moment! Christmas cards are always fun though, especially with all the gorgeous new products coming soon from Karen, and Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I made this card using the soon-to-be released Lorna Label Pop Up die set, along with several of ECD's new dies: Candle, Crystal Flower Set 1, Crystal Flower Overlay Set 2, Holly Border and Merry Christmas.

The little holly leaves, and pretty foliage comes as part of the Candle set. (I used Copics on some of the leaves, and cut down one of the candles in height.)

For the flower centres, I covered a die cut circle in Red/Gold Glitter Dots, also from Elizabeth Craft Designs, to make almost a jewelled look. I also used Glitter Dots on the Holly Border die cuts.

Crazy 4 Challenges Pop it Ups & Purple Onion Design Bear Card

We have a bear theme at Crazy 4 Challenges this week! I used a bear stamp from Purple Onion Design, along with the bunting, bubbles and Birthday Wishes stamps. The pop up mechanism and flagpoles are from Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups range for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I stamped my bear a couple of times onto patterned paper, and cut out layers, sticking them on foam pads. I added some white details to the bear and bunting flags with Signo white pen.
The bubbles were stamped with Staz On ink, and painted with a white opaque ink.

You can see some of the layers in the card better here.  I also added some clouds from the All Season Tree die set.

And finally, a simple card front, with a balloon stamp from Purple Onion Design, coloured with Signo white pen.

Spiral Circle Pull Card die set

Here's another card made with one of Karen Burniston's new die sets (to be released in mid-July) - the Spiral Circle Pull Card.

I kept this card pretty simple, and used the spiral that comes with the set to make the paper roses.

I left the back of the flip-out part of the card plain, for a place to write a message on. I really like how the flip-out part can be tucked under the two little tabs when the card is closed to keep it shut.
The set also comes with a stitched border circle die, and loads of little shape dies - you could use this die set for everything!

Chalk Sayings Cards - new stamps from The Stamps of Life

Stephanie Barnard has some new stamp sets out at The Stamps of Life today, one of which is chalksayings2stamp. There is also a matching die set which cuts out the banners.

For all of these cards, I stamped with Versamark ink, and used fine white embossing powder and a heat tool.
On this one below, I added some chalk to the corners of the black card stock too.

For this card, I used the Framelits Circle Flip-its #2 die set, and the Framelts w/ stamps Icecream set to make the cupcake.

Lastly, this card uses the Framelits Elegant Stand-Ups die set.

Colour Challenge Card - Crazy 4 Challenges

We have a colour challenge today at Crazy 4 Challenges - to use Red, White and Blue!

I decided to make a Flip-its birthday card for one of my best friends - I think we've been friends since about aged 9! Funny to think we now have 10 kids between us!

Anyway, I used the Framelits Circle Flip-its 2 die set (which includes the scalloped circle dies in the middle, and the layer dies) for the card base, and papers from Crate Paper's Neighborhood Collection 6x6 pad.

I used a Stampin' Up punch for the cupcake, and hand cut the bunting flags, sticking them on with adhesive foam squares.

The sentiments are from a Paper Smooches stamp set, and I used another Stampin' Up punch for the stars.

Hand Carved Rose Stamp on new Lorna Label Pop it Ups die

One of Karen Burniston's new die sets for Elizabeth Craft Designs (out in mid July 2014), is the Lorna Label Pop Up. I love how it creates a really lovely big pop-up area, for you to add all kinds of decoration to.
It also comes with lots of co-ordinating dies, such as the smaller shaped label I cut from Hessian paper - behind the rose, and the white label with stitches round.

For this card, I cut an inner layer from patterned paper, and made a larger back layer from Tim Holtz kraft paper, adding some ribbon at the joins between the two layers. I also added some swirly stamping, and bunting flags on adhesive foam pads.

I wanted to have a large rose stamp, so decided to make one myself. I printed out a picture of a rose, and traced the outline onto some Speedball Speedy Carve Block, then hand carved round it for the first rose layer.
I then traced round some of the petals, and carved them for the second stamp, then drew some highlights onto the printed rose, and traced those for the third stamp.
I then came up with a couple of leaf outlines, plus leaf vein outlines.
To match up the three rose layers when stamping, I made sure that some of the grooves between petals matched up on each of the layers.

I made a simple card front, using a flourish die from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and using dies from the Lorna Label set.

Ring Accordion Card with Poppy the Owl

They are due to come out in mid July, and for this card, I used the new Ring Accordion Card die set (which comes with the lovely scalloped border, plus smaller scalloped die) and also the Poppy the Owl die set!

Karen Burniston has three new Character die sets, which are designed cleverly, so that there is a shadow layer, a one piece over-lay, then some smaller details you can add. Fantastic!

I used floral patterned paper from Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes 12x12 pad.

July's Stamps of Life Club Set Cards

Hurray! First of the month means a new club stamp set release at The Stamps of Life, and if you are a Die Hard member, a new matching die set too!
I love this month's strawberries2stamp set!! Big strawberries, little strawberries, leaves for the strawberry tops, and some wonderful debossed leaf dies.

I used the Fancy Frame Flips-its 2 die set for this card.

My next card makes use of one of Stephanie Barnard's new Stand-up die sets for Sizzix - the Royal Stand-Ups, plus one of The Stamps of Life Ribbon Slider dies.
I drew on the seeds with Signo White Uniball pen.

I created my own background pattern, with the teeny strawberry stamp in the set, and I think the debossed leaves are fantastic!

And finally, a nice simple card, using some more of the Stamps of Life's beautifully colourful brads.
