Karen Burniston's New Cake Pop-Up Birthday Card

I absolutely love Karen Burniston's new Cake Pop-Up die set!
I recently made a wedding cake card with it, and wanted to make a similar design of card, but with different patterned papers, and as a birthday card.
I used papers from Carta Bella's 'Flora' 6x6 pad, and love how the card turned out!

I used circle dies to create a plate around the base of the cake, which I cut in half along the fold, to create less bulk when the card closes.
I thought it would be fun to add a napkin to the side of the card, using a die from the Coffee Cup Pop-Up die set.

The flowers and leaves are all from the Flowers and Bees dies set, with Nuvo Crystal Drops Bubblegum Blush flower centres.

I decorated the cake with gold glitter card stock cut with dies from the Cake Trims set. The bows are also from the same set, and the candle comes with the Cake Pop-Ups set.

I just love the mechanism of this die set!! It's genius!
The cake folds down in itself as the card closes.

I kept the card front simple, with more gold glitter card stock cut with the new Happy Birthday die.

Spinner Square Pop-Up Mermaid Birthday Card

I love the mechanism of this card - it really was fun to make! The Spinner Square Pop-Up die set is one of the new sets from Karen Burniston, and includes all the layered squares, speech bubble and the hidden pop-up mechanism which includes a side part which swings down into place when the card opens.
All the papers are from First Edition's 'Paradise Crush' 12x12 pad.

You can see how the side arm swings up again, as the card closes.

To the left of the card I added a beach cut with a stitched edge die from the Tropical Scene set. The little star fish and shells are also from the same set, and the palm trees are from the new Palm Tree Pop-Up die set.
I added a few drops of Bubblegum Blush Nuvo Crystal Drops, plus some to the shells in Bubblegum Blush and Sugared Almond.

On the pop-up square, I added some layers, and a mermaid from the Princess and Mermaid die set, with Bubblegum Blush Nuvo Crystal Drops cheeks.

On the swing out mechanism, I added a speech bubble, with another one with the pointed bit snipped off. I used stamps from Concord & 9th's 'Hooray' set, with VersaMark ink and white embossing powder, heat set.
The gorgeous little turtle is from Karen's new Sea Animals die set.

For the card front I layered up some card stock and used a beach silhouette from the Tropical Scene die set. On the Happy Birthday die cut I used Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink with a blending tool to create an ombre effect.
I glued on sequins with liquid glue from a fine tipped bottle.

Accordion Castle and Princess Birthday Card

Karen Burniston's brand new die set release is full of so much cuteness! I've used an assortment of the new dies on this accordion card.
I used the Fancy Label Accordion die set to cut the four card panels. On two of them I cut further panels from patterned paper and used the outer frames, and for the other two panels I used frame dies from the Fancy Flourish Frames die set.

To decorate the first panel, I used dies from the Castle Pop-Up set, which is great for flat cards as well as making an incredible 3D castle card. The clouds are also from the Castle set.
On the second panel, I used the Outdoor Scene set for the stitched grass, and the Princess and Mermaid die set, which is so sweet!!

The Happy Birthday is from the Word Set 2: Birthday die set, and on the final panel I used the Knight and Dragon die set.
The patterned papers are from First Edition's 'Floral Pavilion' 6x6 pad.

Karen Burniston New Cake Pop-Up Wedding Card

My daughter's best friend got married recently and I wanted to make her a wedding card. I thought the new Cake Pop-up die set from Karen Burniston would be perfect for it! (Links at the bottom of the post.)
I used papers from Prima's 'Delight' 6x6 pad.

I used a textured linen card stock for the card base, and added patterned, metallic and glitter paper borders. I used the scalloped trim die from the cake set for the glitter borders, and bows from the Birthday Charms die set.
The flowers and leaves are from the Flowers and Bee die set.
I made the cake plate with circle dies, and cut them in half, so that there is less material along the card fold.

The little bride and groom are also included in the Cake Pop-up die set.
The glitter swags on the cake are from the Cake Trims die set, and I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ivory Seashell for all the pearly accents.

For the card front, I used another of Karen's new dies - the Happily Ever After die.

I absolutely adore the Cake Pop-up die set! The mechanism is genius and folds down beautifully, and once I'd made the first one, it was really simple to make again.

Sizzix/My Favorite Things 'Celebrate 70' Pop-Up Birthday Card

This was a card I made while back for my Father-in-law's birthday.
I used an old Sizzix Pop 'n Cuts die for the card base, and decorated it with a 'celebrate' die from My Favorite Things, which I layered up three times.

I added a triple layered '70' cut with a Stampin' Up die, and made a box using a die from Neat and Tangled.

The patterned paper is from Heidi Swapp's 'Sugar Chic' 12x12 pad.

Karen Burniston's Design Team Challenge: Katherine Label Birthday Bunting Card

Happy New Year!! It's Karen Burniston's Design Team Challenge time again, with the theme of 'Birthday Banners!'
I made my card using the Katherine Label Pop-Up die set, which creates a floating panel.
I wanted it to be so that when the card opens, lengths of bunting lift into place, so I attached Baker's twine to the back of two layered labels on the floating panel.

I used adhesive foams pads on the back of each of the end flags, to attach the bunting to the card base.
The flag dies are from the Twist Panel Pop-Up die set, and patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Oliver 6x6 pad.

I cut a label shaped window in the front of the card, and lined it up with the inner floating label. The frame for the window was made by nesting two label dies from the Katherine Label set.
The 'Happy Birthday' is from the Word Set 2: Birthday Die Set.

I love the movement which the mechanism in this card creates, and how all the bunting lifts up into place when the card is opened!

Katherine Label Happy New Year 2018 Pop-Up Window Card

Carrying on with my Happy 2018 cards, here's quite a simple Katherine Label Pop-Up card.
I used papers from American Crafts 'Fine and Dandy' 12x12 pad.
I used a scalloped border die from the Sizzix Triple Circle Flip-its die set, and made a frame for the card front opening using two nested label dies from the Katherine Label set.

Inside the card, I made another frame around the opening, and put a label on the moving part of the card, with a smaller label floating on foam pads behind it.
I decorated with some flowers cut from patterned papers in the Fine and Dandy pad.

I used 'Happy' from Karen Burniston's Word Set 2: Birthday Die Set, and '2018' from Neat and Tangled's Journaling Numbers die set.

Finally, I made an envelope to match.

My new year cards so far.

Happy 2018 Twist Panel Pop-Up Card

Happy Boxing Day!! It's a lovely peaceful day, with time for crafting!

I've been really busy studying for some assessments lately, and didn't send many Christmas cards, so I thought it might be nice to make some New Year cards instead.

This is for an American friend who loves books. I used some papers and stickers from the Front Porch range by American Crafts - a nice mixture of nature and books.
I used Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die set for the card base, which also includes the bunting flag dies.

For the first panel I added a tree from the Tree Pop-Up die set, and cut some leaf clumps, a few of which I coloured with Copics.
I used a 'Happy' die from the Word Set 2: Birthday Die set, and cut '2018' with Neat and Tangled's Journaling Numbers die set.

I love the mechanism of the Twist Panel card! Here it is when it first starts to open.

...and a little more open, as the panels start to twist into their upright position.

I added a strip of contrasting patterned paper along the bottom of the card, and left a blank panel to write a message on.

I made an envelope, and added some decoration to the card front.

The start of my Happy 2018 card project!

Butterfly Pivot Birthday Card

A lady from church asked if I would make a birthday card for her sister, so this is what I came up with.
I used the Elizabeth Craft Design Butterfly Pivot Card, along with the Butterfly Accessory Dies set, for the main pivoting butterflies.

At the side of the card, I used Happy Birthday dies from Marianne Designs, and smaller butterflies from the Tim Holtz 'Butterfly Frenzy' Decorative Strip.
I used White Opal Liquid Pearls for the smaller butterfly bodies, and added some swirls from the Tim Holtz 'Festive Greenery' Decorative Strip.

For the card front I used some sheer ribbon and an old metal butterfly charm from my stash.
