Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog Tutorial - Rudy Christmas Pull Card

Hello! I have the following card tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Design Blog today, using the Pop it Ups Rectangle Pull Card, featuring Rudy the Reindeer. I enjoy cutting Karen Burniston’s Character dies from patterned papers, to change things up a bit!
Helen Cryer - 1
Directions for making the card:
1. Cut some double-sided heavy weight patterned paper to 20cm x 13.5cm (8″ x 5.5″). Fold in half, line up the Rectangle Pull Card die over the fold, and die cut. Use dies from the Rectangle Pull Card and Rectangle Accordion die sets to cut a silver glitter cardstock rectangle and smaller patterned paper rectangle. Cut all the pieces of Rudy the Reindeer, including nose, antlers and hooves from Red and Beige Velvet Adhesive. Cut eight snowflakes from silver glitter cardstock (using dies from the Sleigh Gift Card Holder and Spiral Circle Pull Card sets), and a black ‘Merry Christmas’ from the Merry Christmas Pop Up set. Finally, cut the spinner from the Rectangle Pull Card.

2. Adhere the glitter card stock and patterned paper rectangles to the front of the folded card base. Assemble Rudy the Reindeer as shown below, and stick him on the card front with adhesive foam pads for some extra dimension.

3. Adhere the Rectangle Pull Card spinner in the position shown below, and glue on all the snowflakes also as shown below. Snip the ‘as’ from the ‘Christmas’ die cut, and glue on all the word parts as shown.

And you are done! An easy Christmas card, with a little bit of shimmery snow fall when you open the card!

Leafy Happy Birthday Pop it Ups Card

A quick birthday card for a friend (also named Helen!) using the Happy Birthday PopUp die set. Sorry about the terribly gloomy photography!
I used the Scallop On the Edge die to edge the inner card layer, and decorated the card with leaves cut with Paper Smooches' Foliage 1 die set, and a Martha Stewart punch.

I also added a heart and leaf die from the Sizzix 'Phrase, Thank You with Hearts' set.
The chevron ribbon across the bottom of the card is by Stampin' Up.

'Cards That Wow' Sizzix Book... I'm in print!

I got a copy in the post this week of Sizzix's latest book 'Cards that Wow', put together by Stephanie Barnard. Stephanie asked me last year if I'd like to make some cards for it, which I did, and voila... I am in print!! It's my first time, and I'm quite pleased about it!

I remember seeing my very first Sizzix machine (the old red one) on Ebay in 2006, and wondering what it was... little did I know then that I would fall in love with Sizzix and die cutting, and that it would be the start of a whole new lovely hobby! Neither did I ever think back then that I'd get to be in a Sizzix book! Fun!

I have 34 pages of my cards in it!  (Yes - I counted!)
Here is one of mine...
I like the backgrounds that were designed to display the cards.
The book has a few pages explaining how to use Sizzix machines etc, and a few more pages showing how to make each of the basic cards with Stephanie's dies (Flip-its, Stand-Ups, Step-Ups), but it is mainly full of nice big glossy pictures of over 100 card ideas, featuring Stephanie's dies.

My name in print! And also the names of some lovely ladies I have come to know via the internet from Design Teams etc.

Pop It Ups Merry Christmas and Jolly the Mouse Card Tutorial

Hi everyone!  I am sharing this tutorial today, on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog, for a nice and simple Christmas card, featuring Karen Burniston’s beautiful new Merry Christmas Pop Up die set, and Jolly the Mouse. If you like making all your own Christmas cards, September is not a bad time to start!
Helen Cryer - 1
Here’s what I did:
1.  Cut a red piece of cardstock to 14.2cm x 20.2cm, (5.5″ x 8″) and a turquoise piece of patterned paper to 14cm x 20cm. (5.25″ x 7.75″) Fold both in half, and die cut the turquoise piece with the Merry Christmas Pop Up die. Cut 2 strips of red polka dot patterned paper to 3cm x 14cm, and 2cm x 14.2cm. Cut some red Shimmer Sheetz to 2.5cm x 14.2cm. Die cut all the pieces for a Jolly the Mouse, as shown below (though missing from the photo are his glittery tail, and candy cane). Also die cut a Father Christmas hat for Jolly, using dies from the Props 5. Die cut ‘Merry Christmas’ words and the two little swirls from red Shimmer Sheetz. Die cut the four little hearts, and the large swirl from silver glitter card. Use stamps from the Merry and Bright stamp set, as per below.

Here are Karen Burniston’s Pop It Up products which I used (Links are at the bottom of this post):

2.  Fold the Merry Christmas pop-up according to the package instructions (or watch Karen’s assembly video) and adhere the turquoise patterned paper inside the red cardstock. Adhere the red words and swirls, and silver glitter pieces. Adhere the folded ‘Happy New Year’ banner with foam pads. Adhere the 3cm x 14cm red polka dot patterned paper to the foot of the card as shown below. Assemble Jolly the Mouse, and his candy cane as shown below, and adhere to the card. Assemble the Father Christmas hat, and also adhere to the card.
Helen Cryer - 4
3.  For the outside of the card, stick on the remaining red polka dot patterned paper, and red Shimmer Sheetz strip, then adhere the two stamped pieces as shown below. Adhere a red gingham bow near the sentiment.
Helen Cryer - 5
And you are done! I hope you enjoyed my card today, and feel inspired to have a go at making a Christmas card too!

Sizzix Craft Asylum Dies Card In A Box

This is a card I sent to Scott's Aunt a while back, using Sizzix's Card in a Box die (love it!) decorated with some Sizzix Craft Asylum dies.

I added the butterfly, 'Hello' and hearts on clear acetate strips, which I used my ATG glue runner to adhere to the partitions.

The Hello die is by Mama Elephant, and the papers are from Crate Paper 'Pretty Party' 6x6 pad.
I used small square adhesive foam pads to raise some of the die cut elements.

Sizzix Flips-its Purple Onion Designs Toy Car Card

I have a simple Car Birthday Card to show you today, made using the Sizzix Triple Circle Flip-its die set, and patterned papers from Stephanie Barnard at The Stamps of Life.
I decorated each circle with a stamp from Purple Onion Designs' Traveler set, which I coloured with Copics and cut out by hand.

I added a strip of black glitter cardstock down the side, and added a sentiment, using this stamp set, also from Purple Onion Designs.

Circle Accordion and Crate Paper Twin Birthday Card

As promised, here is my other twin niece's 2nd Birthday card.
Karen Burniston's September Designer Challenge theme is 'Celebrate', with the addition of using Frame Edges.
For this card, I used the Circle Accordion Card die set, using the Square w/Circle Frame Edges die set.

I used all papers from the Crate Paper 'Oh Darling' 6x6 pad.
For the first panel, I used a die from the soon to be released Flourish Gift Frame die set - lovely isn't it? I also used an acetate leaf piece from Crate Paper's Confetti Collection Ephemera pack.
On the second panel, I hand cut out from an extra sheet the two little girls, from the 'Oh Darling' pad. I also added a couple more leaves from the Ephemera pack.

On the third panel I added more pieces from the Ephemera pack and a number two from the Numbers and More 1 die. On the last panel I added some candles from the soon to be released Gift Card Accordion die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and some hand cut flags, with letters from the Alphabet 1 - Caps die.

September Designer Challenge - Character Birthday Card

My lovely little twin nieces turned two this weekend!
Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge theme this month is 'Celebrate!' with the added element of using Frame Edges. The twins were born three months prematurely, and have had their fair share of health challenges - their birthday is really something to be celebrated!!
Hattie's birthday card uses the Katie Label Accordion, with Katie Star Frame Edges, and some of Karen's Character die sets.

The first two panels feature Whiskers the Cat, and the soon to be released Lucky the Rabbit, along with party hats from the Props 2 die set.

On the third panel I used the word dies from the Happy Birthday PopUp die set, and letter dies from the Alphabet 1 - Caps die. The last die features Hoppy the Frog.
All of the papers are from Kaiser Crafts Dream Big 12x12 pack.

Next up I'll have my other niece's birthday card...

Pop It Ups Christmas House and Sleigh Scene Card

This was another of those cards that just seem to design themselves - probably due to the beautiful products by Karen Burniston!
I used the Lucy Label die to create the pop-up base from blue polka dot card stock, then die cut some extra layers of patterned card stock with the Outdoor Edges little fir trees die, and fitted them round the pop-up area.
Most of the papers are from StudioLight's 'Scandinavian' 6x6 pad.

I assembled a house from the Holiday House die set and attached it to the small pop-up tab on the shelf part. I then made a sledge from the Sleigh Gift Card Holder die set, and filled it with gifts, also cut with dies in the same set. The snowflakes are also from the sleigh set (with a Glitter Dot in the centre of each).

At the foot of the card, I added some more patterned paper, ribbon, and a swirly border from the Banners and Borders die set.
I cut tags from the Tags Pivot Card set (extending the smaller tag by stopping the cutting pad short of the end of the tag die, and finishing it with scissors), and used a stamp from the Merry and Bright stamp set.
I also added two pieces of hand cut path - leading from the Holiday House, and on the back wall of the card.

The outside of the card is pretty simple, with a couple more gifts, and patterned paper to cover the gap left by the pop-out part.

I also inked round the edges of the card, hills and house, with Tim Holtz distress ink and a blending tool.

The sleigh die set is part of Karen Burniston's lovely new 'Merry and Bright' collection from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Sizzix Card in a Box Boy's Birthday Card

Here's another Sizzix Card in a Box that I made recently for one of my son's friends. It was needed at the last minute, and this was such a quick card to make - a few old chipboard shapes, teamed with papers from Basic Grey's 'Hey Boy' 12x12 pad.

The Card In A Box die is one of a few Sizzix Bigz dies I bought recently... fun!

Pop It Ups Gold Merry Christmas Card

Here's an early Christmas card, using the Merry Christmas Pop Up die set... I love the Merry Christmas word dies which perfectly fit on the pop out part!
I added lots of smaller Elizabeth Craft Design dies to embellish the pattern of the cardstock (from the Holly Leaves and Berries set, Candle set, and All Seasons Tree for the little snowflakes.) I also cut up extra swirls from the Merry Christmas set.

The Merry Christmas Pop Up die set is from the fabulous new 'Merry and Bright' collection by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs:

The paper is from 'Gilded Winter' First Edition's 6x6 pad.

Pop It Ups Maggie Holmes Confetti Flowers & Sizzix Tags Thank You Card

I wanted to use my new Maggie Holmes Confetti Collection Flowers die set, and thought they would look nice animated in a Lorna Label pop-up card.

I die cut a kraft cardstock card base, and made strips at the top and bottom of it with Tim Holtz kraft patterned paper. I die cut scalloped edges with a Tim Holtz On the Edge die, and inked the edges.

A couple of lovely new die sets I bought recently, and used on the card - the Maggie Holmes Flowers, and a Sizzix die and embossing set 'Embossed Gift Tags':

I stamped in pink ink with a Stampin' Up stamp on white cardstock, and die cut an extra layer for the Lorna Label pop out parts.
I cut the green tag from Core'dinations cardstock, embossed it with a little embossing folder which comes in the Sizzix die set, and sanded it.

I arranged the flowers around the tags, and added a few strips of patterned and gold cardstock on the card base, leaving a bit of blank space for a message.
