Pop It Ups Chicken Coop Tent Card Tutorial

I had a great time making this tent card using dies from Karen Burniston - I've never made a tent card before, but I love the design of them!

For the pieces, I used the Accordion Oval die set to cut a singe panel, then cut two more plain pieces of card stock to the same size (not including the flap part of the accordion panel).

One of the plain pieces I folded in half lengthways, then folded over the two outer long edges by about 1cm. I also cut out two chickens, and two lots of chicken wire (links to all the die sets are at the bottom of the post.)

I glued together the two chicken wire pieces, and glued them to the back of the oval accordion panel (which I stamped with a woodgrain Stampin' Up stamp).
I then glued one of the folded up edges of the folded plain piece of cardstock, to the back of the oval accordion panel, as shown below.
Next I hand cut a little branch for one of my chickens to sit on, and tied a piece of twine to each end of it. I made holes in the flap of the accordion panel, for the ends of the twine to go through.

I stuck one of my assembled chickens onto the branch, but realised it wouldn't stay upright (being top heavy), so I attached a strip of clear acetate to the back of the chicken, and stuck it to the flap of the accordion panel directly above it. (I snipped through the flap either side of the acetate strip, so that the strip could hang straight down.)

Sizzix Drop-Ins Cards

I wanted to show you a few simple cards I made using Stephanie Barnard's new range of Drop-ins die sets for Sizzix.
This first uses the 'Card with Flowers Drop-ins', and all the flower and word layer dies are included in the set.

This second card is made with the lovely 'Card, Scalloped with Gifts Drop-ins' set. There is the choice of three interchangeable central pop-out parts - the gifts, 'Surprise' and 'Happy Birthday'.
The balloons are from the Sizzix Balloons Step-Ups die set.

And this third card is made using the 'Card, Scallop with Flowers and Sentiments Drop-ins' set. This set is different from those above, in that there aren't any pop-out parts on this one, but there are loads of phrases and flowers which drop in and become an integral part of the frame.

Pop It Ups Cocoa the Horse Cowboy Birthday Card

I need to get round to showing you the third card in my 'Cocoa the Horse & Lorna Label' set!! This time Cocoa is still just a horse!

I used cowboy papers from October Afternoon, and a couple of Karen Burniston's lovely new Western themed dies - the barbed wire, and mountain range both from her Western Edges die set.

I put Elizabeth Craft Design double-sided tape on the back of my chicken wire pieces, layering a glitter card die cut on top of a black card die cut.
The label die cut is from the Lorna Label set, and the stamp is from a Tim Holtz set.

I used labels from the Lorna Label set, Happy Birthday from the Pop it Ups Happy Birthday PopUp die set, and used stars from Tim Holtz's Crescent Moon Biqz die.

On the card front I used the horse silhouette die also from the Western Edges set.

So here is Cocoa as a horse, unicorn and zebra!

Sizzix/Tanya Whelan Happy Birthday Card in a Box

I love the Card in a Box Sizzix die, which also includes die cuts for the pinwheels and clouds!
This was such a quick card, using Tanya Whelan 'Bella Rose' papers by First Edition.
I also added on a little sunshine from Lil' Inkers.

I attached the pinwheels on acetate strips, and decorated the front of the box with a Spellbinders die (Decorative Labels 8), and Sizzix nesting labels.

Pop it Ups Purple Onion Designs Flower Bouquet Thank You Card

Purple is not a colour you will find me using all that often - I don't seem to own much purple crafting stuff, or be particularly drawn to it, but I do quite like how this Accordion card turned out!

I used stamps from Purple Onion Designs, and dies by Karen Burniston from Elizabeth Craft Designs - the Katie Label Accordion set.
Papers are from Stampin' Up.

I coloured the flowers with Copics, cut around them, and wrapped a bit of paper around the stems, tied with twine (from Stampin' Up). I added Ranger Crackle Accents to the flower centres for a bit of extra interest.

Purple Onion Design Stamps Anniversary Sale & Bakery Birthday Card

I really enjoyed making this card... fun stamps, Copic colouring and pretty colours...

For my card, I hand cut out the Bakery after colouring it, glued on some buttons which I added thread to, and used a Stampin' Up die set for the speech bubbles. I attached the stamped parts with foam pads.

Pop It Ups Zebra (Cocoa the Horse) Birthday Card

OK, so I made a Cocoa the Horse (by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs) card a little while back, with Cocoa made into a Unicorn, and now I'm sharing the next card in my 'Cocoa the Horse & Lorna Label' series... this time with Cocoa as a Zebra!

I had so much fun making this card!
I hand drew the stripes onto Cocoa, with a fine Sharpie pen, and added a party hat & party blower from the Props 2 set. I then added lots of balloons (cut with dies from the Sizzix Balloon Step-ups Card set) and added some of them on clear acetate strips to the Lorna label pop-out part, so they would stand more forward.
I printed out the quote which I had typed out.

I just added a few strips of paper, some pompom trim from Stampin' Up, and a Happy Birthday by Paper Smooches, backed with Elizabeth Craft Designs double sided tape.

Finally, I rounded off the edges of the card with a Zutter Round-it-all.

My 'Cocoa the Horse & Lorna Label Collection'!!

Karen Burniston's August Designer Challenge - Tent Scene Pop it Ups Card

Our Designer Challenge this month is called 'Inspired Creations', and I love it! Karen's Design Team are to pick any project from any of the past Designer Challenges, and use it as inspiration for a new card.
I had a lovely time going back through old Designer Challenge posts - there were tonnes of great ideas to choose from, but I think because I just spent the week before last on our church girl's camp, that Raquel Mason's fabulous tent card stood out to me, and I used it for inspiration for my card.

Raquel adapted the Barn Pop Stand die set to make a tent, and added trees from the All Season Tree die set. Isn't it such a brilliant card?!
You can find Raquel's original Barn Tent card blog post here.

I used the Pop Stand die cutter (from the Barn Pop Stand set) to create flaps to which I attached four trees (from the All Seasons Tree set). I glued the outer branches of the front and back trees together.

Next, I cut two barn shapes, and trimmed the bottoms of the barns down a bit, so they could just fit under the tree branches. After cutting a slit in the front barn piece (and making holes with a Crop-a-dile), I attached the barn pieces onto the tree trunks, and used double sided tape to stick the two tent halves together at the top.

Then I added lots of foliage to the trees, using the cloud dies from the All Seasons Tree set, and added a string of bunting to one tree (with flags from the Lots of Pops die set), and I hand cut a little bird house (plus used a heart punch) for the other tree.

I then added twine and brads to the holes I'd made with a Crop-a-dile, to be little guy ropes.

Lastly, I added a white strip of card stock, with pink scalloped borders (made with a scallop border punch), and added a heart, and pink glitter lettering cut with the Alphabet 1 - Caps set.
The card is for someone who helped out a lot on our camp!

Sizzix Framelits Tag Card

I love the 'Sizzix Framelits Die and Clear Acrylic Stamps - Tags' set, which includes lots of different sized and shaped tag dies, plus co-ordinating stamps, such as the ones used here.

I used the largest die in the set to make a card, by leaving the folded edge of a folded in two piece of cardstock inside the top of the die.

Pop It Ups 'Cocoa the Horse' Unicorn Birthday Card, from Karen Burniston's Farm 2 Collection

Hello! I'm back with a card made with a die I love from Karen Burniston's new Farm 2 Collection from Elizabeth Craft Designs - 'Cocoa the Horse'.

I animated Cocoa on the Lorna Label PopUp card, and added a cut-by-hand unicorn horn and shadow, to make a very sparkly pink unicorn card!

I hand cut clouds to add to the front platform of the Lorna Label, and added stars cut from a Tim Hotlz die onto strips of clear acetate.
The rainbow and individual clouds are from a Sizzix die set.

I used a Sizzix On the Edge die for the scalloped edge, and a Birthday die from Marianne Designs.
The papers are from My Mind's Eye.

Just to show you some of the layers a bit better...

I had so much fun designing this card!

The Cocoa the Horse die just gave me so many ideas! Here are three cards I made in my 'Cocoa the Horse & Lorna Label' set! I'll show the other cards in greater detail in future blog posts...
