House Pivot Panels & Tag Book Pop-Up Gingerbread House Christmas Card

Yesterday I shared some pictures of a New Home card which I made using the House Pivot Panels and Tag Book Pop-up die sets.
I used exactly the same die sets today, but this time for a Christmas gingerbread house card.

I also used dies from the Rectangles - Crosshatch set, and hearts from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

The front of the card uses Karen's Merry Christmas die, and a little gingerbread man from her Christmas Charms die set.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!!

House Pivot Panels & Tag Book Pop-Up New Home Card

I just wanted to share with you some photos of a card I made a while back, which ended up being published in the Die Cutting Essentials magazine, edition 45.
The dies are all from Karen Burniston, and there was a whole segment in the magazine on cards made with her super dies.

I absolutely love this House Pivot Panels die set, which I used inside the Tag Book Pop-up

I think all the elements which make up the little houses are so gorgeous!

I also used dies from the Rectangles - Crosshatch set, and the 'happy' from the Word Set 7 - Autumn  die set.
The stamp is from Reverse Confetti's 'Whole Lotta Happy' set.

The papers are all from First Edition's 'Floral Pavilion' 12x12 and 6x6 pads.

This picture shows the mechanism of the card better.

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge - Oxide Ink Christmas Sleigh Pop-Up Card

It's Karen Burniston's Design Team Challenge day, and the theme this month is
'INK IT!'
We have to incorporate inks, paints, sprays or pastes into our card.
I decided to give myself the challenge of using zero patterned papers, and so I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks with foam applicators to create the graded background, and all the other coloured card stock on my card.

These are the colours I used.

I then splattered some Minc Reactive Mist Medium spray on the background, and heat embossed silver embossing powder over it.
I also added some snowflakes from the Sleigh Pop-Up die set to the background, then cut out the sleigh parts and gifts from some silver cardstock and my inked linen texture cardstock.

I cut a square from paper-backed red satin, using the Crosshatch Squares die set, then layered inked and plain squares on top, along with Karen Burniston's Merry Christmas die.

I had a little help from my new puppy Freddy while photographing!!

Upsy Daisy Pop Up 70th Birthday Card

Here's a card I made a while back for my lovely Mother-in-law's 70th birthday.
I used the unique Upsy Daisy Pop-Up die set from Karen Burniston, to create the three floating panels.

I used Crate Paper's Flourish 12x12 pad for the backdrop, and added some Stampin' Up ruffled ribbon.
The flowers are from Karen's Flowers and Bees die set, and also the leaves on the back of the card.

The 'birthday' is from Karen's Word Set 2 die set, the '70' is from a Sizzix/Stampin' Up Alphabet set, and 'Mum' is from Sizzix's Female Occasions die set.

I used the Crosshatch Ovals die set for a place to write a message.

Everything folds down beautifully!

The outside of the card is simple, with more patterned papers, ribbon and a tag from the Tag Book Pop Up die set.

Karen Burniston Charm Accordion Get Well Soon Card

Here's a little Get Well Soon card I made, using just two of Karen Burniston's dies sets - the Charm Accordion, and Get Well Charms.
All the papers are from My Favorite Things 'Fun and Frolic' 6x6 pad.

I used a rectangular die from the Charm Accordion set to cut windows in each of the floating panels, then used gold twine to hang charms.
I added gold glitter washi tape and glued on sequins.

On the third panel I added acetate sheeting to the back of the window, and glued the 'get well soon' to the acetate, with a Fineline applicator.

Evergreen Pivot Panels & Twist Panel Pop-Up Christmas Tree Card

It's Karen Burniston's Design Team challenge day, with the theme of Christmas Tree!
My card uses a combination of the Twist Panel Pop-up and Evergreen Pivot Panels die sets, so that when the card opens a little Christmas tree scene twists open.

I used assorted old papers from my stash, and used the Crosshatch Oval and Square die sets for decorative layers on the front and inside of the card.

This video from Karen explains how the card is assembled using the Twist Panel Pop-up and Evergreen Pivot Panels die sets. I then just added some strips of ribbon, the Crosshatch Ovals and Karen's Merry Christmas die.

I love the action of this card and how everything unfolds in such grand style!

Frame Pull Pop-Up Carta Bella Flora No 2 Thank You Card

Hello! Well I've been a bit busy lately for various reasons - recovering from a hysterectomy, getting a Border Collie puppy, and having my missionary daughter come home after 18 months away, to mention a few!!
I do have a card for you today though, which uses Karen Burniston's Frame Pull Pop-up die set - a really versatile die set which creates a pop-up mechanism that you operate by pulling a little tab.
In this case, I put the pop-up part on the front of a normal opening card, so there was room for a while message inside.

This is what the card looks like when it's standing up normally, with the pop-up part closed.
The patterned papers and floral sticker I used are all from Carta Bella's Flora No 2 collection.
I used the little swirly decorative die, which comes from Karen's Charm Accordion set, for the corners.

When you lay the card flat and pull the tab, the top part of the pop-up mechanism opens up, revealing a smaller pop-up panel inside!

I decorated the inside of my pop-up section with a printed phrase from Cart Bella's Flora No 2 papers, and Karen's 'Thank You' die. I used an 's' from her 'Merry Christmas' die, to create 'Thanks' instead.

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge - Halloween / Fall Upsy Daisy Card

Hi folks! My card today is a combination of a Halloween and Fall/Autumn card, which I made for Karen Burniston's October Design Team Challenge with the theme of 'Happy fall Y'all!'

I used the Upsy Daisy Pop-Up die set to create the three pop-up panels, and I used papers from Tim Holtz's 12x12 Memoranda pad, some plain grey and mustard cardstock and wood laminate.
In the foreground of the card, I used dies from the Autumn Elements and Halloween Elements die sets, and layered them on adhesive foam pads.

For the background of the card, I used dies from the Crosshatch Ovals, Halloween Charms and Halloween Elements die sets. I used a mini blending tool to add black distress ink to the edges of the die cuts.

I love how compactly everything folds down, when the card closes!

For the card front, I inked the edge of some more Tim Holtz Memoranda patterned paper, added some gauzy ribbon, twine, and a leaf from the Autumn Elements die set.

Christmas Trees Pop Stand Card

Karen Burniston has a great new release, and one of the die sets is her re-released Christmas Trees Pop Stand set, which I used for this card.

The papers are from an old K&Co pad, along with paper backed wood veneer.
The stars, trees and tree decorations all come in the Christmas Tree Pop Stand die set.

I used the Ovals - Crosshatch die set on the card front and inside.

To decorate the rest of the inside of the card, I used the Sizzix Originals Beautiful Flourish die, a couple of Tim Holtz's Mini Paper Snowflakes Thinlits dies, and some wooden snowflakes from Brutus Monroe.
