98th Male Birthday Cake Pop-Up Card

I made this card today for a very special man from my church where I grew up. He shares the same birthday as me, and this Wednesday he will be 98!! He's still sprightly and cheerful, and whenever I visit my old church, he's always at the door shaking hands with every person who comes in!

For the card base I used Karen Burniston's brilliant Cake Pop-up die set, which includes the scalloped trims.
I used Karen Burniston's Numbers set for the cake topper.

I cut a circle from patterned paper to decorate the floor of the card, and used a slightly smaller circle die to create the gold circle rim.
The Happy Birthday is also by Karen Burniston.

The card front is just a very simple design with room for a message.

Karen Burniston Spinner Square Pop-Up & Reverse Confetti Blooms 'N Buds Thank You Card

A friend of mine from church recently gave me a couple of beautiful tins of coloured pencils, and I made this Thanks card for her.
I'd bought Reverse Confetti's 'Blooms 'n Buds' stamp set ages ago, but the matching dies have been out of stock till just recently. I bought a set this week, and so yesterday die cut and stamped loads of flowers. I thought Karen Burniston's Spinner Square Pop-up die set would showcase the flowers nicely.

After using tape runner to put patterned paper panels inside the card, I used a square die from the set to cut a window in the front of the card.
I put a large square on the pop-up part of the card, and decorated this with a sentiment and flowers.
You can see a bit better in the photo below some of the flower layers. I attached one flower to the back of the card, then some more to the spinning arm, which moves when the card opens/closes.

I made a patterned paper frame for the front of the card, and added more flowers.
The sentiment is from Paper Smooches' 'Sentiment Sampler' stamp set, and the little scalloped square die comes with the Spinner Square Pop-up set.
All the inks are from Stampin' Up.

I used my rather rubbish, one-handed videoing skills to show you how the card moves!

Twist Panel Pop-Up One Year Missionary Card

Our lovely daughter Lucy is a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and in two days time she'll have done one year of her 18 month mission! I had a package ready to send her this afternoon, and wanted to make a quick-ish card to include with it.

I miss her incredibly, but to say she is happy and loving mission life is an understatement!

For her card I used Karen Burniston's Twist Panel Pop-Up die set. All the mechanism pieces are included in the set, plus the panel layers, bunting flags and pop-up heart.

The mechanism folding down, as the card closes.

I used Concord & 9th's 'All About You' die set to decorate the first two panels, letters from Sizzix's Thinlits 'Paper Cuts Alphabet' for the third, and a stamp from Flora and Fauna's 'Birthday' set for the last panel.
The scalloped trim was made with a die from Sizzix's Triple Circle Flip-its die set.
The large number 1, and Anniversary banner are from Stampin' Up's 'Number of Years' and 'Large Numbers' sets.

Pop-Up Quilt Birthday Card (Karen Burniston/Cricut/Echo Park)

It was my friend Donna's birthday yesterday - we both love our crafting, and are going through a quilting phase at the moment, plus Donna just started a job in a fabric shop - so I thought a quilt themed card would be appropriate!
For the pop-up platform, I used Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up die set, then cut the quilt square and thread with Cricut's Country Life cartridge, and a Stampin' Up heart punch.

I added a string of bunting, using flag dies from Karen Burniston's Tag Book Pop-up set. I love the little stitch detailing on them!

The sentiment was cut with the gorgeous 'Happy Birthday Word' die set from Echo Park.
I then added some flowers from Karen Burniston's Flowers and Bee die set, with Bubblegum Blush Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centres.

The outside of the card just has some cardstock layers, and another little string of bunting.

Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge - Charm Accordion Cupcake Birthday Card

The challenge this month for Karen Burniston's Design Team is 'Hip to be Square'!
I decided that I'd like to use the Charm Accordion die set, and cut a square window in each panel.
I used Crate Paper's 'Bloom' 6x6 pad for all the patterned papers.

I used dies from the Spinner Square Pop-up die set to create the little scalloped frames for the windows, and for the windows themselves.
The words are from Word Set 2: Birthday die set, and I glued them with glue in a Fineline Applicator onto clear acetate panels which I adhered to the back of each window.
I used little cupcake charms from the Birthday Charms die set, with glitter cardstock icing, to hang in each of the smaller frames.

For the larger cupcakes, I used dies from the Cupcake Pop-up die set, and candles from the Cake Pop-up die set, which I shortened a bit. I used adhesive foam pads to stick them to the acetate panels.

The front of the card follows the same theme.

I love the size of cards the Charm Accordion die set creates! They are so dinky and cute!!

Cupcake Pop-Up Birthday Card

It's my friends' daughter's birthday this week, and I made this card for her using Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-Up die set.

I used Karen's Happy Birthday die, and Numbers die set, plus Sizzix's Thinlits Paper Cuts Alphabet.
The scalloped edges were made with Tim Holtz's Sizzix On the Edge Scallops die.

For the card front I just layered papers, with space for a message. I used the Birthday Charms die set for a little cupcake in the corner.
