Ivy the Bunny Plant Pot Accordion Card

Also today, I have another card featuring a stamp from the lovely new collection of Stacey Yacula Stamps from Purple Onion Designs, which is available now!!

The new collection is called 'Sweet Occasions' and it includes stamps for all the major occasions and holidays throughout the year!
The complete collection is available at a discounted set price for a limited time. The whole set (a whopping 25 stamps and a 20 piece sentiment set) will be $100.00. The discounted set price will only be available until Sunday 7th June, 2015.

The heart and layers on the second panel are all cut from dies included in the Accordion Oval set.

I stamped Ivy and the pot onto different patterned and coloured papers and fussy cut them out, then added some White Signo Uniball pen and Copics for a few details.
The papers are all from Basic Grey's 'Mon Ami' 6x6 pad.
I hand cut some curved red pieces for the card page corners, and glue on some button threaded with twine (Beacon's 3-in-1 glue is great for this.)

Here is another card I made with a stamp from the collection - Jolly the Snowman. Isn't he great?!

I used the Copic Airbrush to darken the sky on my card, and added snowflakes with Copic Opaque White Paint.
I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder for the sentiment, and added it to the little pop-up tab on the shelf section.
The snowman I coloured with Copics and White Signo Uniball pen, cut him out by hand, and added some Stickles Glitter Glue. I stuck him to the card with foam pads.

Karen Burniston's May Designer Challenge - Barn Card

Karen's challenge for the Design Team this month is BARNS!
Karen's new release which is coming up is so much fun! A barn with sliding doors, Brownie the Cow, Cheepers the Chicken, Virgil the Pig, the Hay There Pop Stand set, and the Farm Greetings stamps set. I used everything on this card (except Virgil), on an Accordion Rectangle card base.

My first panel uses Brownie the Cow, cut from Elizabeth Craft Design Adhesive Velvet.
I used papers from Basic Grey's Fresh Cut 6x6 pad, and cut some hay from the Hay There Pop Stand set.

The second panel uses one of the new stamps, with VersaMark Ink, and white embossing powder.
The third panel has the new barn (which I trimmed a little down the right hand side, so that the accordion folds can fold properly when the card closes).

The last panel features Cheepers the Chicken, with the speech bubble from the Rectangle Accordion set, and part of the same stamp (with the lettering above and below masked off with Washi Tape when applying the ink, and removed before stamping.)

Purple Onion Designs Blue Bird Tag Thank You Card

Just a little card today, using stamps from Purple Onion Designs, a tag die set from Papertrey Ink, and the bow from a Stampin' Up punch.
(I used Elizabeth Craft Designs 6mm Transparent Double Sided Tape to assemble the bow - it's really strong, and holds the bow perfectly.)
I stamped some little flowers across the bottom of the card, with a stamp from this set, and coloured the centres and leaves with Copics.

I also coloured the bird and banner with Copics, and cut them out by hand, and stuck them on with foam pads.
The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye Kate & Co Oxford Lane 6x6 Pad.

Here's a recent card of mine using Purple Onion Design stamps - 'Rosie' and the 'Home Sweet Home' set, teamed with the Accordion Rectangle die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I stamped the images onto papers from First Edition's 'Bella Rose' 12x12 pad, and cut them out by hand. I added 'Happy Birthday' die cuts from Paper Smooches, and inked round the edges of the Accordion frames.

Lastly I just added a bow and some paper flowers to the frames

Dutch the Fox Tags Pivot Card

Here's another card I made for Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs to take to a Trade show  in Japan. It needed to be a simple, 'cute' character card, and I used the Tags Pivot Card die set for the base, along with Dutch the Fox. I used tags and hole reinforcers from the Tags Pivot set, and a border from the Paris Borders set.

I thought I'd try out some non-traditional fox colours!
I also added a speech bubble from the Lorna Label PopUp set, and 'hello' from the Rectangle Accordion set.

I kept the card front quite simple, and added some ECD flowers.

Purple Onion Designs & Sizzix Flip-its 40th Birthday Card

It seems to be 40th birthday season at the moment! Quite a few of my friends have celebrated theirs lately, and this card is for another friend next week. Mine's in two weeks...

I used the Sizzix Square Flit-its #2 for the card base, and Stampin' Up patterned paper.
The stamps are from Purple Onion Designs: 'Chloe' and 'Stacked Gifts', and the glitter numbers are die cut with a Stampin' Up/Sizzix Alphabet set.

I partly coloured the stamps with Copics, and partly paper pieced them. I hand cut them out, and stuck them down with foam pads.

Lastly I stamped a sentiment and layered it.

Sock Monkey Accordion Circle Birthday Card - April's Designer Challenge

Well I've been back from America for three days now, and it's been a case of jet lag (and keeping 4 kids with jet lag - one of them ill - on an even keel), slipped disc problems with my back, unpacking, washing, and sorting out the HUGE amount of hassle that results from having loads of our stuff stolen while in San Francisco! (We did have an amazing trip apart from that though!!)

Anyway, a morning of loud upbeat music, sunshine, and card making with bright colours has me smiling again :)

This is my card for Karen Burniston's April Designer Challenge... to make an Accordion card. I used the Accordion Circle Card, Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday PopUp die set, and adapted Honey the Bear into a sock monkey!

I used Adhesive Velvet from Elizabeth Craft Designs for the Happy Birthday.
For my sock monkey, I hand cut a mouth piece, added lips from the Props 1 set, and hand cut some new longer arms and a tail.

I added some K&Co stickers to the third panel, and made some simple candles from paper straws, with hand cut flames, for the last panel.

Elizabeth Craft Designs Pop Up Beach Card Tutorial

Hi everyone! I had this tutorial featured on the Elizabeth Craft Design Blog a little while ago... I would have posted it sooner, but I've just got back to England after being in America for a couple of weeks, where our car was broken into, and my laptop stolen! (Amongst many other things!) I did buy a new laptop in America, but couldn't remember my blog password!

So anyway...

After a long, grey British winter, I'm looking forwards to some warmth and sunshine! Karen’s latest dies really called to me, and I came up with this bright beach scene. I made a fun ‘Aloha’ card, but it could easily be used as a Happy Vacation, Bon Voyage, or summer birthday card.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut pale turquoise cardstock to 11”x 6”. Fold cardstock in half, and die cut with the Lots of Pops die. Emboss the top half of the card with the Clouds embossing folder. (You will need to emboss it twice to cover the width. There will be an ‘edge line’ showing, but this will mainly be covered up later.)

2. Cut yellow cardstock to 6”x 5.5”. Cut half of the Lots of Pops die into one of the 6” sides. Use the wave border from the Beach Edges die set to cut approx. 1” from the other 6” side.
Adhere the yellow cardstock to the bottom half of the turquoise card base.

3. Cut all the pieces as pictured below: Clouds (from the All Seasons Tree set), sun (using a small circle punch), trees, bucket and spade (from the Palm Tree & Pail set), banners (from the Lots of Pops set), ‘ALOHA’ (from the Alphabet 1- Caps set), diving gear (from Props 3 set), heart (using a small heart punch) and a hand cut towel (measuring 2”x 3”).

4. Cut all the pieces as pictured below: Owl parts (from Poppy the Owl set), sunglasses and bow (from Props 1 set), bikini top (using a tiny circle punch) and a hand cut bikini skirt.

5. Adhere clouds and sun. Assemble trees and adhere to the Lots of Pops side tabs. Tie some twine to both the trees, and glue the banners over the twine, as pictured below.

6. Adhere the owl parts together as pictured below.

7. Adhere the beach equipment, and ‘ALOHA’ as pictured below. (Trim the edge off the towel.)

8. For the outside of the card, fold a 6”x 6” piece of patterned paper in half, and die cut through the top edge of both sides with the small palm tree border (from the Beach Edges set). Cut two bright pink cardstock strips of 6” x .5”, and adhere everything to the outside of the card as pictured below.

Quite a few steps, but great fun if you enjoy playing with paper!!
I hope you feel inspired to create your own beach scene!

Helen

Karen Burniston's March Designer Challenge - 'Make 'em Laugh!'

This month, Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge Team are creating cards with a 'Make 'em Laugh!' theme!
This quote which I came across on Pinterest always tickles me for some reason:
''A friend told me I was delusional... I nearly fell off my unicorn!''

I thought I'd make Buster the Dog into a unicorn, on a Katie Label Accordion card base.

Seeing as this is a rather random kinda card, I saw no reason not to throw a palm tree on there too!
(I used Papertrey Ink's 'Type Strips' stamp set for the lettering.)

I cut Buster's unicorn horn by hand from glitter card stock, and added some detail with Copic markers.
The papers are all from We R Memory Keepers Chalkboard 6x6 pad.

I have no idea when I might actually use this card, but no doubt some person/reason will spring to mind at some point!

Whiskers the Cat in Adirondack Chair Pop Up Card

Els of Elizabeth Craft Designs, is going to a trade show in Japan soon, and needed some simple 'cute' character cards to take with her. Here's one which I made:

I cut the Adirondack Chair Pop Up from chevron card stock (from Stampin' Up), then cut the chair again from white card stock, snipping out the parts of the white chair I needed. I then glued the white chair on top of the chevron chair, and added a dark pink card base, and some ribbon strips and clouds.

To add the Whiskers the Cat, I folded a strip of card stock into half and half again, then used the fold lines to make a square, which I glued onto the chair, and onto the back of Whiskers. The open side of the square is positioned at the fold of the chair.
You can see the square below. I allows everything to fold flat when the card is closed.

I also added a journalling space with a die from the Lorna Label PopUp die set, and some paw prints from the Props 4 die set.

The card front is pretty simple, with a tag from the Tags Pivot Card die set, and another paw print.
