Cute Card Thursday and Daring Card Makers Challenge

The DCM challenge to use some kind of Music on your card had me thinking... I liked the idea of blasting the message out, so came up with this, and combined it with Cute Card Thursday's challenge to use Numbers or Letters. I used K&Co Amy Butler papers, a cornet printed on cardstock, from a music font on Dafont (tonnes of great free fonts!), and Autumn Leaves and SU stamps.

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

I adapted the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch to make this birthday card for my nephew. I used a white uniball pen for the stitching details and put some of the segments up on foam pads. The papers were old DCWV glitter ones, and just other scrap stuff.

Card Positioning System Challenge Card

I'm making some Thank you's for my birthday at the moment - this one is using the CPS sketch - for the circle in the sketch, I cut a window using a Sizzix Clearlit, and glued on a string of buttons I had threaded together. The card is all from DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies, with Stickles coating the butterfly punchies. I don't know what it is with me and orange at the moment...I used to NOT like orange, but I've used it on every card lately!

Mojo Monday Challenge Card

I started off with a really loud MAMBI paper for the background of this sketch, and when I added the extra panels it looked too much, so I made one of the panels from clear acetate and stamped on some simple Stampin Up images instead. The acatate is stuck on with mini foam pads, which are hidden with dots from a Doodlebug glitter alphabet. I used some Doodlebug Sugar coating at the top and bottom edges of the card too. I seem to really be into glitter and bright colours lately!

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

I had fun making this one - lots of sparkles (using Stickles), and free-hand rainbow and flower. The flower is kind of meant to be like the sun to go with the rainbow. I put acrylic paint round the edges and sprinkled white glitter on while it was still wet. The rainbow and leaves are stuck on with about 300 mini foam pads! (Slight exaggeration...)

Caardvarks 'Quote' Challenge Card

The postlady bought me some new Gel-a-tin stamps today, and some Doodlebug Design Sugar Coating Glitter, so I hade a nice little play on this card. I stamped the Stampin' Up quote with Staz On, onto acetate, and stuck it onto the card with a chopped up foam pad. I hid the foam by glueing gems over the top. You can't see it too well, but I finger-painted the edges of the card with acrylic paint and sprinkled more Sugar Coating on while it was still wet, so it's quite a sparkly card. Some of the other glitter details were done using Stickles.

Caarvarks 'Trees' & Wednesday Stampers Card

I wanted to make a birthday card for Scott's Grandad, and the challenges from Caardvarks to use Trees, and from Wednesday Stampers to use orange, gave me the idea for a more masculine card. The stamps are from Stampin Up - for the trees, I peeled the rubber off a roller wheel, cut the images to separate them and mounted them on EZ Mount. I got the leaf cutter from Stampin Up too (a Sizzlit). The paper is Basic Grey.

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

Wow I am so fickle...I've taken up vegetable gardening in the last few weeks, and not had a single thought of cardmaking. I think I'm finally getting a bit bored of peering into my new beds every 3 hours or so now though, to see if anything has grown, so last night had a look at the challenge blogs.
I made this card with the 2 Sketches for You sketch.

Also, I saw the idea of printing digital papers onto ribbon, so I had a go, but my printer wasn't very impressed with having ribbon fit through it, so I tried stamping onto ribbon instead. It works pretty well! I used chalk inks onto cotton twill. You can't really tell in the picture, but I added Stickles to the ribbon too, on the butterfly wings - it's pretty. I liked making this presonalised ribbon for a birthday present!

Cute Card Thursday: Citrus Challenge

Three posts in one day... honestly I am not just sitting round crafting all day!! I promise the washing and ironing are all done, the house is clean, I have done jigsaws/played with Harry, and even done some more grouting in the kitchen... just enjoying guilt free crafting!!
The challenge on Cute Card Thursday is to use citrus colours - not my usual thing, but I quite like how this one turned out too. Playing with the Cricut Home Accents cartridge again, and K&Co paper and flowers.

Mini Album

My Grandma's 90th birthday is coming up , and when I saw the K&Co Ancestry questions pad I wanted to make an album with them for my Grandma to fill in (or dictate to us!). I used one of each of the question stickers, and all K&Co papers, plus various stamps, embossing powders and ribbons. I love the little metal K&Co frames too - with the only photo in the whole album!

Daring Card Makers Challenge: Fruit

I was really pleased to see this challenge - I've had the Cricut Home Accents cartridge for ages, and never used most of it, so it was great to have a go with the apple, and I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. I will use it for one of the kid's teachers later on.

Daring Card Makers Challenge: Bunnies & Chicks

This card is a bit of a cheat, as the gorgeous image is just a Jolee's stick-on. I've had fun today though - my friend came over with her new Big Shot, so I could tell her how to use everything. While we were in a crafty mood I thought I'd like to have a go at making some templates for envelopes/gift boxes etc. I made the card above with the Sizzix BigZ scallop Circle die, then made this mountboard template for a matching envelope, just the right size. It was really satisfying to do - I made an A6 size template too, and want to have a go at a gift bag next :)

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

What?!! No bows, buttons, flowers or glitter!!? We have an older nephew's birthday coming up, and the 2 Sketches for You challenge seemed a really good one to work with.
I used my new Inkadinkado stamp set, Sizzix Stars die, MM ribbons and letter stickers, some ancient wood effect sticky-back plastic, and Colorbok silver star stickers. I bought some thick acetate sheets on Ebay for the clear card front, and made my own card back, with textured black card. I just stamped in white an Autumn Leaves journalling panel, and used the white uniball pen for the message (This is about the 5th white pen I have tried, and is far and away the best - really smooth and opaque)

Papertake Weekly Challenge

A card made using the Papertake Weekly challenge to use a Circle, Ribbon and Stamp/Image. These aren't colours I would normally use together, but they just kind of happened this way!
I watercolour painted the Magnolia image, and used K&Co paper, with Stampin Up punches for the layered circle.

Card Positioning System Challenge Card & starting a new Mini Album

I made only my 2nd Easter card so far, this time using the CPS layout - I made my own card blank printed on both sides with Pink Petticoat designs. The lettering is from Base Camp Cricut cartridge, and everything else was just bits.
I also decided to start a new mini album, using the K&Co Ancestry Questions pad. My Grandma will be 90 soon, and I thought it would be nice to ask her to fill in the details. I have some of the ancestry flower stickers, but they are really dimensional and I wanted something flatter for the inner album pages, so using K&Co paper I copied some of the flower designs and made my own flat versions - they turned out OK!
Yay! Someone just said I'm in the 'Fab 5' for the last 2 Sketches for You challenge - that's nice!

Mojo Monday Challenge Card

I'm still trying to do more male cards to have on hand, but they still seem to just be boy's cards... one of these days I will have to do a scary bloke's card! I enjoyed fitting this in with the challenge, and making the wheels the scallops.

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

I had fun doodling on this card, for the 2 Sketches 4 You challenge...

Boy's Card

I'm getting a good stock of cards on hand now, but realised I have no boy's cards or masculine ones. Here's a pretty simple boy's one - I like this little stamp from Hero Arts, and I have millions of metal spirals to use up.

Happy Mother's Day!!

Thank you to my Mum, Eileen, and to Scott's Mum, Meg, for all you do!!

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge Card

I made this card a couple of days ago, with a new stamp I got on Ebay - I loved it because it reminded me of Enid Blyton Faraway Tree-type kids! I'm not that sure about the card though - I'm going to make a few more with the stamp to try and achieve the nostalgic feel I'm after. Any ideas for how to use it would be welcome!
